Dear Club Cahootie Members,

In an effort to further strengthen our privacy protections for the kids on Club Cahootie we have redesigned our registration process.  Specifically, beginning August 2, 2010, we will require that all parents of Club Cahootie members review and accept our recently updated Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. 

Additionally, in order to authenticate you as a parent, we will require a small, one-time  credit card transaction of ninety nine cents ($0.99) which will appear on your credit card billing statement thereby ensuring transparency with parents that their child has received parental consent to be registered at Club Cahootie. This is intended to prevent any unauthorized uses of a parent's credit card for the purposes of creating false parental consent. At no other time during the Club Cahootie experience do we require a credit card for your child's use of Club Cahootie nor is there any sort of ongoing subscription payment required.

Here are the steps for re-registering on Club Cahootie:

 1. Your child should re-register by creating a new account (may choose same Club Cahootie user name and password as before): http://www.cahootie.com/clubcahootie.html; she will be given extremely limited access to the site until obtaining your consent. 

2. You as the parent will receive an email (which can take up to several hours to receive with some internet mail services due to filters and can also be caught in spam filters so please check if you do not receive) with a link for you as the parent to re-register for the site which will allow you to validate your child’s Club Cahootie account; click on this link in the email and complete parental registration process using the same email address your child provided for you

3. Once you as the parent have created an account you will automatically be logged in with the user name and password that you select

4. You the parent can then begin the validation process for the child’s account by clicking on your child’s account found on your Club Cahootie homepage under “My children” (upper left side of page)

5. Once you have clicked on your child’s account, then click on the link described to validate the account

6. Review and accept our Privacy Policy (check the box)

7. Review and accept our Terms & Conditions (check the box)

8. Click the “Submit” button at bottom of page

9. You will be directed to a page describing our credit card transaction requirement; click “Submit and proceed…”

10. You will be directed to a credit card transaction page (powered by Paypal) to complete

11. You credit card will be charged $0.99 as a one-time transaction intended to create verifiable parental consent for your child to participate on Club Cahootie.  This credit card step is only required for the first child’s account (in the event you have multiple children on Club Cahootie).

We regret to inform you that all content created by your child prior to August 2, 2010 on Club Cahootie will be permanently deleted by virtue of this one-time re-registration process.  

We apologize for this inconvenience, but recognize privacy protection for children and communication with Club Cahootie parents as our highest priorities.
