Cahootie was originally invented by Jeff Jurgensen, screenwriter of the hit children's film "Agent Cody Banks". Jeff and his co-founding partner, Kathleen Utecht, successfully launched the Cahootie business under the Greenrock Entertainment umbrella in 2007 to much acclaim from the Toy Industry. In 2008 Cahootie won several distinguished industry recognitions including Creative Child's "Game of the Year", the Toy Man's "Award of Excellence" and "Choice Award", and the National Parent Center's "Seal of Approval", among others. Additionally, moms from around the country continuously rave about Cahootie on their blogs.

In May 2009, Blythe Jack (now Cahootie's CEO and co-owner) and her financial and operating partner, Innovate Partners (an entrepreneurial incubator with extensive branded consumer products expertise), acquired Cahootie from its founders after having met them through the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year program in 2008 where Cahootie was a participant and Blythe was a National Judge for the Retail & Consumer Products category.

Concurrent with the acquisition of Cahootie, Blythe and Innovate Partners relocated the company to Irvine, CA and are actively growing the business. The Cahootie team’s goal is to build on the founders' vision by continuing to develop socially engaging products and a next generation tween brand.
